What is on offer in Madrid this autumn?
If you want to learn Spanish in Spain, there are some factors that you should consider. First, what is your level of Spanish? Second, what do you want to learn? And third, how much time do you want to spend in Spain?
If you are planning a trip to Madrid to improve your Spanish this autumn can be the best time to do it.
Spanish is one of the main languages in the world. It is spoken by 500 million people and as time goes by its influence is increasing. Spanish is the second language and it is widely spoken in Mexico, Central and South America. There are growing numbers of people in the USA who speak Spanish, and it is the first language in New Mexico and Puerto Rico.
But if you want to know the origin, where everything started, you should go to Spain, and specifically, to its capital city Madrid.
Madrid offers you everything that you always wanted to know: museums, food, culture, sport, good weather and of course, party time.
Three points in Madrid: culture, sport and night
Museo Nacional del Prado
Madrid is one of the best places in the world for visiting interesting museums. El Prado can be identified as the best picture collection in the whole world. From Velázquez to El Greco, Tiziano, Zurbarán or Goya, the Museo Nacional del Prado was constructed to house the Natural History Cabinet, by orders of the Spanish king Carlos III and designed by architect Juan de Villanueva in 1785.
The Museum's first catalogue was published in 1819 and it included 311 paintings, from its collection those days which comprised just over 1,510 pictures collected from different countries. Since then, more than 2,300 paintings have been incorporated as well as a large number of sculptures, prints, drawings and works of art, and it’s a must in Madrid, and this autumn you can see several temporal exhibitions, like those ones about Velazquez and Rome.
Real Madrid: the best football club
Real Madrid is the best football team ever, at least according to the Madrilènes and the statisticians. It was founded on 6 march, 1902, and since then, Real Madrid has won 32 Liga Championships, 18 “Copas del Rey”, 9 Champions Leagues, 1 European Super Cup, 2 UEFA Cups, 1 League Cup, 3 Intercontinental Cups and several other minor Cups and Championships.
Di Stefano, Puskas, Ronaldo, Butragueño or Hugo Sánchez have been some of the best players in Real Madrid and all around the world, and today, history goes on: Cristiano, Gareth Bale, Casillas or Higuaín play for Real Madrid. You can see a very good football match this autumn, maybe La Liga or UEFA Campions League!
The city in the night
Madrid never sleeps. Bars, tapas, discos and maybe the best night life in the world are some of the main attractions that Madrid offers to visitors.
You can eat, drink, walk, dance or shopping all day and spend your night time with friends in a terraza or some of the best clubs you can think of.
Autumn is one of the best times for visiting Madrid: not too hot, not too cold and a full city with all its attractions. Friendship in Spain is well known and International House offers you the opportunity not just for learning a language, but also for knowing the Spanish way of life.
